  • Remove all food, dishes, and utensils from countertops. Store all open food items in sealed, airtight containers or inside the refrigerator. Wipe down all kitchen surfaces to remove crumbs and residue that attract ants.
  • If you’ve noticed ants in or around kitchen cabinets, pantry shelves, or bathroom vanities, empty those areas completely. Clean the interior surfaces so our technician can apply treatment directly where ants are nesting or trailing.
  • Move furniture, appliances, and storage items at least 12 inches away from walls in areas where ant activity has been spotted. This gives our technician clear access to baseboards, cracks, and entry points.
  • Resist the urge to spray, wipe away, or disturb visible ant trails before our visit. These trails help our technician trace the ants back to the colony and identify the species, which is critical for choosing the right treatment.
  • Empty all indoor garbage and recycling bins before the appointment. Take the bags to an outdoor bin. Clean the interior of the bins to remove any sticky residue or food particles that may be drawing ants indoors.
  • Outside, trim any tree branches, shrubs, or plants that are touching or overhanging the exterior walls of your property. Clear mulch, leaf litter, and debris from the foundation perimeter to allow exterior treatment access.
  • Fix any leaking taps, pipes, or drainage issues you are aware of. Standing water and excess moisture attract many ant species, especially carpenter ants. Ensure bathrooms, basements, and under-sink areas are as dry as possible.
  • Remove pet food bowls and water dishes from the floor. If you have an aquarium, cover it securely and turn off the filtration and aeration systems. Arrange for pets to be kept in an untreated area or away from the property during treatment.
  • All occupants, including pets, should leave the treated areas for a minimum of 2-4 hours after our technician completes the service (specific timing will be confirmed on-site). This allows the treatment products to dry and settle safely. Your technician will provide clear re-entry instructions before leaving.
