About Oriental Cockroachs

The Oriental cockroach prefers damp environments and has a dark hue. Adult males are around an inch long, while adult females are an inch and a quarter long. Both have an oily shine on their bodies and are black. Oriental cockroaches have wings, yet they can’t fly. Female wings are triangular and short. Male wings are longer and virtually the whole length of the roach’s body. Nymphs (baby cockroaches) do not have wings.

Habits

An adult female’s lifetime might range from a few weeks to a few months. She’ll give birth to roughly 150 nymphs during this period, which will take at least a year to completely grow. The Oriental cockroach’s adult population peaks in early summer, hence infestations are most common from spring through fall. Oriental cockroaches are drawn to homes with damp, dark, rotting plants in which they may reside and hide. Cockroaches enter houses and other buildings through fractures in the foundation, openings beneath doors and around windows, gaps around utilities entering your home, and vents when hunting for food.

Habitats

Climbing on smooth, vertical surfaces is almost hard for Oriental cockroaches, therefore if you notice a giant roach moving high up on a wall or cabinet, it’s probably not an Oriental cockroach. Cockroaches from Asia assemble in huge numbers in chilly, dark, and wet environments. You should look for them in regions where there is a lot of water. They also enjoy moist environments. One can examine the following locations in and around your house and garden.

Threats

Food-borne infections including E. coli, salmonella species, and other disorders can be transmitted by Oriental cockroaches. The chemicals they employ to communicate give off a musty odour in areas where there is a high infestation.

Prevention

The easiest way to keep Oriental cockroaches at bay is to have a clean environment. Vacuum often and keep a pristine kitchen to keep oriental cockroaches at bay. To avoid moisture accumulation, consider using a dehumidifier. Seal all probable access points on the exterior of the house using silicone-based caulk, paying special attention to crevices around doors, windows, pipes, and utility lines. To avoid moisture accumulation, reinforce all entries around utility pipes and ventilate crawl areas.

Client Testimonials

The company is prompt to respond and they follow up with texts and emails. Mudssar did a professional work for us, helping us to evict carpenter ants who made a nest somewhere in our house. He gave us the instructions before and after the treatment. So far we are happy.
